  • What are your hours of operation?

    • We're open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10am - 3pm

    • We do have classes at other times of the day, but our shop is closed while classes are in session

  • Where are you located?

    • We are located in Downtown Bakersfield in a bundle of cottages across from Rabobank Arena.

  • I'm a local artist, how can I consign with Cottage Arts

    • Please fill out a Consign Interest Form and we'll be in touch! We will need a sample of your work prior to approval. 

  • Do you offer private group classes or event space?



  • What type of classes do you provide?

    • We provide Sewing and Art classes. We also offer workshops held throughout the year.

    • Our classes are geared towards different experience levels - all are welcome!

  • How much is the entire class?

    • Classes differ in pricing.

  • Do we pay per class or for full session?
    • Payment is due monthly and due the first class of each month.
  • Do you have sewing machines available or do I need to bring my own?
    • We suggest to bring your own machine as it's helpful to learn on your own. We have a limited amount of machines at Cottage Arts, but they are not guaranteed to be available in every session. You may rent our machines for $5.00 per month if you need to. 
  • What do I need to bring?
    • Each teacher will give you a recommended supplies list when enrolling.  You are responsible to bring those items.
  • Can I join only a few classes?
    • You may take private individual lessons by contacting us.  Those are flexible and you take as many as are needed.  The Group Classes are a set length, usually 9-12 weeks in length. You enroll in the full duration of the course.
  • Can a parent stay during the lesson?
    • Our program is a drop-off program.  This mainly is due to our space limitation. 
    • Our classroom has windows. There are tables right outside where you can observe the whole lesson.
  • Do I need to commit to the full session of classes?
    • For any group class sessions, like our fall, winter and spring group classes, commitment is based for the full session.
    • We offer private individual lessons are flexible with your schedule. 
  • Once enrolled,  what if I need to cancel?
    • If you are with one of the homeschooling charter schools,  you may cancel with out being charged, but it needs to be one week before classes begin.  This will allow us to replace your spot.  As stated on the Registration Fee Invoice when enrolling, these fees will not be refunded.
    • A cash paying student may cancel,  but will not be refunded the rest of the current month in which they have paid and the registration fees will be as above, non-refunded.
